Happy New Year! Welcome to the third London Royals newsletter of the 2011 / 2012 season.

Socials

Well as always the Royals Christmas party was carnage. The sight of so many drunken shepherds being herded around London by Jesus and a large star was too much for the (un)Friendly Society. However, all of the other venues played along and a great night was had by all (aided by Jagerbombs from a very wise man called Einsten). Well done to everyone for making it to the Edge – hope you all enjoyed it. Feel free to post photos up on the Facebook page!
In addition to our usual post training drinks, Sara and Greg are organising a regular ‘Time of the Month’ social – a chance for us to get together for a few drinks once a month – more details to follow. Everyone is also invited to
Richard Chere’s Lady Gaga and Naughty Divas house party on Saturday 21st January.

Coaching and Training

We resume training this weekend! Sunday 15th January, 12.30 – 14.00 at the John Orwell Sports Centre in Wapping to be precise! We have a match against East London the following Sunday 22nd January, so it would be great to see as many faces as possible at the first training session.
Feedback from this year’s training has been great. Thanks to everyone for attending and putting in so much effort. It really paid off with our win against Waltham Forest. Although Waltham were the fitter of the two teams, some
fantastic passing and running off the ball worked to create some great opportunities. Karen did her best to distract the opposition although they did give her Player of the Match for the amount of open goals she missed. Well done to everyone.
As part of our new year’s resolutions, please arrive for training at 12:15 for a warm-up, as the sessions start at 12:30 and our pitch time is valuable.

Dublin PinkHockey Fest 2012

The dates for next year’s Pink Hockey tournament have now been confirmed. If you’re interested in taking part, please keep Thursday 28th June – Sunday 1st July free. You can find out more on Facebook under ‘Dublin PinkHockey Fest 2012’. We will be getting in touch in due course to discuss arrangements for the weekend, including options for accommodation and travel.

Bentstix Mardi Gras Tournament 2012

Anyone visiting Australia next February / March may wish to participate in Bentstix Hockey Club’s Mardi Gras celebration. The tournament will be held on Friday 2nd March and involves participants from New Zealand and
Melbourne at a ground in Sydney.
