John Orwell Sports Centre can be easily accessed by train (Wapping – London Overground) and London busses (100 and D3). Regular training sessions last for two hours and usually cost £8 (if your a newbie or is it a taster session then we often wavier this charge on your first session).
We are a non-profit making club – the charge covers the cost of hiring the pitch and the purchase of necessary training equipment (balls, cones, bibs etc). We have experienced coaches on hand to take the sessions, which normally start with a group warm-up, followed by drills to improve skills, theory on different aspects of the game, and finish with short practice matches.
If you plan on coming to a training session, wear a good pair of trainers (or astro boots if you have them) and comfortable sports clothing (shorts, tracksuit, t-shirt). If you have your own stick, shin pads and mouth guard, please bring them along. If it’s your first time, someone will lend you a hockey stick until you can purchase your own.
