The London Royals Hockey Club is proudly supported by Aldermore Bank plc.
Aldermore, a UK specialist bank, teamed up with the London Royals Hockey Club to build and promote the club’s exciting and inclusive ambitions.
Aldermore’s sponsorship will help support the growth and development of the club through its ‘Go Getters’ initiative that includes player and umpire development, the annual Pride Cup tournament, as well as Pride initiatives to promote LGBTQ+ inclusion activities in community sports.
Aldermore Bank provides financing to support UK small and medium sized enterprises (“SMEs”), and supports investors and home-buyers with mortgage finance, while offering a dynamic online savings proposition.
As the UK’s first open and largest Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBTQ+) Hockey Club, the club continues to be a champion and an ambassador for diversity and inclusion in sport.
The Committee extends a special thanks to Royals member and Aldermore employee, Dave Tottman, in assisting to secure this fantastic new partnership.
Some words from our members
Why should people join: Because it is a community, a circle of friends, a sports team, a celebration of queer life, and hockey, all rolled in one. Tough act to follow!
We are safe space for you to be you. You may not realise that you are a lesbian, gay or bi-sexual or even if you are straight. it doesn’t matter you are welcome here to be who you are.
Sport should never turn people off or make people feel unworthy and with the Royals you are valued both on the pitch and in the pub (or the Brewers). Whilst we are an LGBT club we take anyone and make them feel welcome, which is something we all take pride in.
There is an atmosphere that is more than just community, the Royals feels like hanging out with goods mates, and taking away what you want from that experience; expanding your social circle, learning a skill or just having a workout with mates.
The atmosphere, the support, and positivity – within the club and towards other teams. It’s like a big big family!
People should join because we are a thriving, growing, successful club. We’re very active in London, we travel regularly, and we can teach anyone to play hockey.
I know many LGBTQ+ folk struggle with some of the traditional culture that surrounds sport and breaking down that culture is something the Royals excel at.
