Men's 2s

The Men’s 2s play in London Open – Men’s Division 5 East, with home matches on Saturday mornings at Redbridge Sports Centre in Barkingside.

They are the second of London Royals’ four men’s sides — a level below the 1s and above the club’s two Division 6 teams. The 2s train once a week at the George Orwell pitch in Wapping.

New players are welcome throughout the season rather than only in September, and there are no trials — you come to training, play, and the captains work out where you fit.

Common questions

What standard does this team play at?

The Men's 2s play in London Open – Men's Division 5 East, the second of London Royals' four men's sides — a level below the 1s and above the club's two Division 6 teams. There are no trials; the captains select each week on commitment, availability and willingness to improve.

Do I need experience to play for London Royals?

No. The club takes complete beginners as well as players returning after years away, and there are no trials — you come to training, play, and the captains find you a side.

Do I have to be LGBTQ+ to play for London Royals?

No. Part of being an inclusive club means that we welcome everyone from every background with zero judgment.

Will I actually get a game?

Each week, the captains select their team based on commitment to training, willingness to learn & improve, and availability. You are not expected to be at every training session and match, but those who put in the effort do see more pitch time. Captains also take into account rotating through the team to ensure players get to experience matches.
